Thai foot massage is massage of the feet and lower legs. It's an invigorating and relaxing treatment, involving elements of Shiatsu, Reflexology and Chinese massage into the treatment.

Pressure is applied using various techniques such as stretching, hands on massage from thumbs, fingers and knuckles, as well as acupressure using a rounded wooden stick to stimulate reflexology points.

Massage of the legs is also incorporated into the treatment, which encourages the opening up of the Sen lines (energy lines) in the body.
There are 10 major energy lines that run throughout the body from the head all the way down to the feet, where they end as pressure points. These lines map out the organs of the body, and stimulating these points on the foot allows the mind and body to restore to a natural healthy balance.

There are numerous benefits from having Thai foot massage: improved circulation, improved lymphatic drainage which in turn helps to remove toxins in the body, general improvements of the immune system, better sleep patterns, stress relief, and mental clarity (to name a few!).

Thai foot massage was one of my absolute favourites when I lived in Thailand, and I would get them on a weekly basis! In fact, foot massage is probably where my love and interest in massage first stemmed and grew from, because I really was so obsessed with getting them whenever I had the chance!

Although foot massage isn't the first treatment most people jump to, it really is a lovely treatment and can definitely make you feel energised and relaxed from head to toe. It’s still one of my favourites to receive, and it’s amazing how soley working on the feet can make you feel relaxed and revived all over.

Give it a try next time you’re thinking of getting a treatment- we are all creatures of habit and stick to what we know, but I promise you won’t regret it!

It’s also a perfect addition to any full body treatment too. Dedicating half an hour on the feet after a massage can leave you feeling T I P T O P ready to float on home!
